PATHANAMTHITTA
Pathanamthitta is a district of Kerala inland from the
backwaters. It is a rural area and not much visited by
tourists so if you like to venture off the beaten track
then this place will suit you nicely. It also works as a
good journey break between the beaches and mountains. A
major attraction to this area is Parthasarthi Temple at
Aranmula on the banks of the Pamba River. This temple is
dedicated to Lord Krishna and attracts thousands of
devotees. What makes this temple special is that it has
been declared as an international tourism destination
and this means that non-Hindus are allowed inside the
temple complex. This is very unusual in Kerala and for
foreign visitors a visit to a temple normally means
having to travel outside Kerala. |
